AUCKLAND LOAN

City To Raise £3.7 Million (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 25. The Auckland City Council this evening authorised the raising of £3,708,000 in loan money to enable it to carryout its proposed works programme during the current financial year;Recommending this action, the budgetary control committee consisting of the Acting-Town Clerk (Mr G. O. Sims), the City Engineer (Mr A. J. Dickson) and the City Treasurer (Mr K. A. Armstrong) said last year the council raised £2,751,856 in loan money. Redemption loans accounted for £450,100 of the sum and the amount available for new works was £2,301,756. Expenditure on loan works was £1,856,567, which meant that the council improved its loan position by £445,189.
