W.E.A. CLASS FIGURES
1190 Taking Courses The fiftieth tutorial class of the 1964 Workers’ Educational Association programme opens this week. Enrolments for courses in progress total 1190. Figures for the equivalent period in 1963 are not available, and with 30 courses still to be initiated the total enrolment will not be known until September, the secretary of the tutorial classes committee (Mr N. A. Parsloe) said yesterday. The importance attached to. the size of either a class enrolment or, for that matter, the year’s programme could be over-emphasised, he said. “Our concern is becoming more and more the optimum number a tutor should have in a class,” said Mr Parsloe. A new course, “Sight Reading and Rudiments of Music,” will begin next week. Mr Charles Martin, an experienced musician and W.E.A. tutor, will be in charge. Mr Parsloe said that the intention of the course was to help intending members or members of choirs who felt!
