Policy Attacked By Rockefeller

(A_Z. Press Association —Copyright)

SAN DIEGO, May 26.

There were indications that Indonesian pressure was' beginning against Australian New Guinea, Governor Nelson Rockefeller said today.

He told San Diego State College students that President Sukarno had claimed the right to interfere in the domestic concerns not only of Malaysia but also of the Philippines.

He criticised the peacekeeping mission of the United States Attorney-General, Mr Robert Kennedy, to Indonesia early this year as ill-con-ceived and having accomplished nothing. Mr Kennedy “enhanced the prestige of the aggressor” in his military action against neighbouring Malaysia, he said. He said that Mr Kennedy

“kowtowed” to Dr. Sukarno in an effort to stop his aggressive steps against Malaysia.

“Having enhanced the pres: tige of the aggressor, Indonesia, and having shown American disinterest, the Attorney-General was rewarded by the following statement from President Sukarno within hours of his having left Djakarta: ‘Crush Malaysia. Indonesia may change her tactics, but the goal will remain the same.’ “Nevertheless, upon his return, President Johnson said that the Attorney-General ‘carried out his assignment constructively and with real achievement,’ ” Mr Rockefeller said..

A peace conference arranged by Mr Kennedy between representatives of Indonesia and Malaysia had “collapsed.” Governor Rockefeller recommended that the United States “indicate firmly that we will stop all foreign aid to Indonesia unless President Sukarno halts all forms of aggressive -action against Malaysia.”
