Cliaser's Refit At Port
The Picton whale-chaser Orca now undergoing an extensive refit at Lyttelton, is expected to return to Picton in 10 days.
The rakish Norwegianbuilt chaser's accentuated sheer, is being reinforced with extra plating. The extra sheathing at “wind and weather” level is necessary because, according to the master (Captain A. H. Krummel), sperm whales bump violently into the vessel when they are being towed and this could damage the plating.
