Sound Mile Trial By Foxy Boy

Foxy Boy made good time over a mile on a soft track at Riccarton yesterday in his final gallop before the Waimate Cup tomorrow.

Ridden by D. N. Hadfield, Foxy Boy led his stablemate Full Course (E. G. Low) by a length ending the mile in Imin 47 4-ssec. He quickened impressively to record 51 2-5 sec for the last half-mile. Foxy Boy. like most of the stock of Isaac of York, is at ease under winter conditions and may be hard to beat in the Waimate Cup.

Safe Harbour (Collins) worked up to speed fairly slow in her mile. She took Imin 50 l-ssec for the distance. and 52 2-ssec for the Last half-mile.

The Waimate Cup may be Safe Harbour’s last race. Apache (Mrs Clutterbuck), a fit Waimate Clip candidate, ran at three-quarter pace from the six furlongs to the halfmile, and sprinted from there in 51 3-ssec. NEW OWNER

Bruin (Mein) led Trove (Moriarty) by a length ending six furlongs in Imin 18 4-ssec, the last half-mile in 52 2-ssec.

Bruin has changed hands since he raced at Amberley and will carry the colours of Mr W. E. Hodge, of Dunedin, in the Waitangi Gold Cup at Waimate.

| Bruin’s stablemate, Fontei roy (Mein), dashed over half i a mile in 50 l-ssec. He galf loped early before the track I was cut about, but it was a

good trial for the. Waimate County Publicans’ Handicap. Scuffle (C. T. Wilson) and Everglades (Stokes) sprinted seven furlongs in Imin 31 3-5 sec, the last half-mile in 52 3-ssec. They will race at the Dunedin winter meeting. FIT CANDIDATE Can’t Wait (Mein), which will be a fit representative for Riccarton in the Trial Plate, recorded 52 2-ssec for his half-mile. His stablemate, Town Talk (Campbell), followed in 51 4-ssec, and Beau Seant (Stokes), another member of the Welton team, recorded 51 2-ssec.

Golden Cassock (Messent), a surprise winner at Ashburton last time out, was restricted to a half-mile in 53sec.

Tidal Wave (Mein), a.light; weight reserve for the President’s Handicap, ran his halfmile in 53 4-ssec. Hullabaloo (C. T. Wilson) took 54 l-ssec, and Valuate (Hadfield) and Navarro (Moriarty) took 54 1-5 sec.

Bridie O’Cally (Mein) and Canadiana (Mrs Clutterbuck) appeared to act well in the conditions while running half a mile in 51. 3-ssec.

Bridie O’Cally will run against the open sprinters at Waimate.

After two dashing runs over the pony hurdles Coral Chief (Blair) shaped well over two standard hurdles.

He is an accomplished galloper in bad ground, and could be a big success as a jumper.
