STATE PAY TALKS
Undertaking By Mr Shand (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 21. The Government proposes to arrange discussions with representatives of State service employee organisations on its acceptance of the report of the advisory committee on higher salaries. The chairman of the Cabinet committee on Government administration (Mr Shand) said today that, quite understandably, a number of inquiries were being received as to the effects of the acceptance by the Government of the committee’s report on salaries below the level of heads of departments. “These are being studied now as soon as the Cabinet committee has considered the views of the various employing authorities. It is proposed to arrange for discussions with representatives of the employee organisations,” said Mr Shand.
