LAOTIAN CONFLICT
Troops Make Link-up (N.Z P A -Reuter—Copyright) VIENTIANE, May 21. The Laotian neutralist commander, General Kong Le, was •yesterday reported to be moving with some 3000 troops through mountainous country controlled by the anti-Com-munist Meo guerrillas west of the Plain of Jars, according to a delayed report. Western military sources said General Kong Le’s troops appeared to have linked up with Meo mountain tribesmen under General Vang Pao. General Kong Le withdrew from Ban Khong, his last position at the south-west edge of Xieng Khouang plateau about 100 miles north-east of Vientiane.
The sources said neutralist troops and some tanks were also moving westwards from Muong Kheum, the Neutralist strong-point 15 miles north of the plain, and these could link up with General Kong Le.
