CARDIGAN BAY

Good Draw At Yonkers (N.Z.P.A. -Reuter— Copyright) NEW YORK, May 18. Cardigan Bay drew a favourable No. 3 post position today for the 50,000-dollar International Pace, to be run at Yonkers Raceway on Thursday night. He was immediately made second favourite in the early betting at 3 to 1. Overtrick, the champion American four-year-old, drew the No. 1 post position and was made an even-money favourite.

In his last start last Friday night, at Yonkers, the American speedster started from the outside No- 8 position in a. free-for-all, and won handily in 2min 0 l-ssec. Cardigan Bay is a fast beginner and, although Overtrick has tremendous initial speed, S. Dancer should be able to push his horse to the front in the early stages and then get a position. Third choice in the betting is Adora’s Dream, an American five-year-old which drew No. 2 behind the starting gate. Henry T. Adios, the American winner of this race last year, was quoted at 8 to 1, after drawing No. 6. Outsider New Zealand’s second entry, Great Credit, drew No. 7 and was made the outsider of the field at 20 to 1. His trainer-driver, C. R. Berkett, said the draw was “not quite so good,” but he later told reporters that the horse was by no means overmatched by this championship field. The field is one Of the strongest assembled on a United States track for many years and Mr M. Tannanbaum, the president of Yonkers Raceway, said a record clocking of 3min for the mile and a half was “quite possible.”
