TWO-PORT GALLS
Successful Start For Scheme (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 19. “Savings to whom?” delegates to the meat and wool section of Federated Farmers asked Mr G. F. Jones, a Meat Board member when he said .in Auckland today that a number of two-port calls under a scheme to streamline the turn-round of ships On the New Zealand coast had already shown some “startling” savings ( in shipping costs.
Mr Jones said the savings went to the shipping companies, but producers would benefit as the savings would be reflected in shipping freight charges. ,
He said the scheme was a genuine attempt to save time on the New Zealand coast and to avoid increases in freight charges.
