“Interest A Source Of Inspiration”
Appreciation of the genuine interest Lady Fergusson was taking in the work of women's organisations throughout the country, was expressed by Mrs W. Grant,
Dominion president of the National Council of Women of New Zealand, at a reception held by the Christchurch branch in honour of her Excellency last evening.
Lady Fergusson’s interest was a source of real inspiration to the women of New Zealand, she said. Mrs Grant said she had arrived in towns on several occasions recently, just after their Excellencies had left. Each time she had been impressed by the enthusiasm Lady Fergusson’s presence had aroused among leaders of women’s groups. “This enthusiasm is due. not only to the fact that Lady Fergusson is happy to meet so many women, but also to the very obvious knowledge she has of the aims and objects of many of our women’s societies. “I would not be surprised if some delegates here tonight know less concerning the organisation they represent than does Lady Fergusson,” Mrs Grant said. Inspiration Her Excellency’s generosity in giving so much time in her busy life to meeting women and learning something about the work they were doing,, was proving a source of real inspiration to the women of New Zealand. "This inspiration will surely result in more women coming forward to accept responsibility, so that, in cooperation with men, they can work towards the goal we are all so anxious to attain—that of peace, justice and goodwill among all peoples: of the earth,” said Mrs, Grant.
