N.Z. AID BEING CONSIDERED
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 19. Aid to South Vietnam will be considered at a meeting of the Cabinet defence committee tomorrow, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said at a press conference tonight.
He was asked how the situation compared with the Government’s earlier refusal to send military aid to Cyprus because of commitments in Malaysia.
There had been other considerations besides just sending men to Cyprus, replied Mr Holyoake.
The South Vietnam position could be considered in the light of less activity in the North Borneo region in the last few weeks.
