SOUTH ISLAND HONEY
Record Number Of Suppliers
The number of South Island suppliers to the New Zealand Honey Marketing Authority nearly doubled during the year ended August 31. 1963 according to the annual re port to the Minister of Agriculture. At the end of the previous year there were 61 South island suppliers. This rose in 1962-63 to a record 114. In the North Island membership decreased from 135 to 126 - The Increase in South Island suppliers was reflected in the increased output of white clover honey, which rose from 265 tons to 721 'tons. Export sales were the third I highest recorded and sales in New Zealand rose to a record 515 tons.
