Under 20 XI In 1-1 Draw
Taking only one of at least half-a-dozen chances, the Canterbury under 20 teani drew with Otago under 20, 1-1, in the first leg of the Ruddiman Cup at Dunedin on Saturday. After C. Martin had opened the scoring and provided the clue to his team that he was a yard or two faster than the Otago defenders, this opening was never again fully exploited. Otago scored an equaliser with a penalty and were denied another three goals in the second half by the fine play of Canterbury’s goal-keeper, R. Storer, who made one point-blank save from three yards. But if there were chances missed at both ends, Canterbury lost the most.
