HOLE-IN-ONE BY THOMSON

Peter Thomson (Australia) and Angel Miguel (Spain) fought out a fantastic finish for the £750 Gevacolour golf tournament prize on Saturday. Miguel won by one stroke after leading Thomson by four strokes with only three holes left. The Australian’s break came at the 143-yard sixteenth when the ball bounced twice before dropping in the cup for a hole-in-one. He completed the round in a brilliant 65. Miguel had a final round of 68 to win the tournament with a 268 aggregate. But Thomson was consoled by a special prize of £lO6O for liis “ace" to add to his £460 second place earnings. Thom son said it was the first time he had ever holed-in-one. C. O’Connor (Ireland) was third with 276.
