Anniversary Party Held
A white flower for Mother’s; Day was presented to mem-! bers and white sprays to guests at the fourteenth anniversary party of the South Brighton Country Women’s Institute, held recently. Specially-invited guests included Mrs C. D. Newton, a member of the Dominion executive of Country Women’s Institutes: Mrs L. M. Kellaway, federation president: Mrs E. Edwards and Miss A. S. James from Wales; Mrs 1. Jones (Wellington), Mrs A. Black (Mosgiel) and Miss P. Smith (Invercargill). Mrs I. Jones, a former tutor at the institute, who presented lit with the Jones Rose Bowl ifor arts and crafts, lit the j candles on the anniversary cake; Mrs E. Hill extinguished them and Mrs L. M. Kellaway j cut the cake. i A programme of entertain'ment was presented by the glee circle and the drama i circle.
Teacher Retires.—Mrs R. A. Allington, assistant at the Beryl McCombs Memorial Kindergarten, Redcliffs, has retired from teaching. She was recently bidden farewell by members of the kindergarten committee and parents. A guest was Mrs A. Steven, president of the Christchurch Free Kindergarten Association.
