Work To Be Co-ordinated

The three central Anglican parishes in Christchurch and ■ the cathedral will co-ordinate: ; their ministry to the city to: | a much greater extent than i previously through regular! j meetings and discussions | j between the vicars of the f parishes, and the Dean (the Very Rev. The cathedral does not have a parish, and the three, churches, which are largely! centred in growing industrial areas, draw attendance: from many people living beyond the parish boundaries,! : Archdeacon Cocks said. The ! churches each had special ministries, such as to the Maori people, healing, and to; i students, and regular consul-! stations would stop unnecessary over-lapping. The changes would not; mean any diminishing of the regular spiritual administrations in the parishes, but! will allow better use of manpower. This was the first time that a group movement of this type had been tried in Christchurch. Archdeacon Cocks said. It was a very important development within the church, and there would be major repercussions.
