BATTING SLOW
Four Down At Lunch
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NOTTINGHAM, May 15. With only 110 minutes to play the Australians will have to pull out something extra if they are to beat Nottinghamshire on the final day at Trent Bridge today. Notts, after trailing the Australians on the first innings by 269 runs, put up a doleful but dogged display in the pre-lunch session when its total had slowly mounted to 186 for four.
Resuming with its overnight total at 118 for two, Notts scored only 68 runs in two hours and a half batting before lunch while losing the wickets for B. Bolus and M Hill.
Bolus added only nine to his overnight score before being caught at the wicket off McKenzie for 77. But from his departure the innings developed into a funereal display. I. Moore, at lunch, had been batting 200 minutes for 58 and K. Gillhouley 65 minutes for six. Scoreboard:— Australia First innings for eicht wickets declared, 367. Nottinghamshire First innings, 98.
