NEW MAN IN COMMAND

A former commander of H.M.N.Z.S. Royalist, Captain H. D. Stevenson, is now in command of the Royal Australian Navy carrier Melbourne, which sliced through the destroyer Voyager during manoeuvres on February 10. Since spending two years on exchange with the Royal New Zealand Navy he has been director of plans at the Navy Office, Canberra. He had a distinguished record in World War 11, in which he served mainly in the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, and the Mediterranean.
