CENTRE FOR ORDER
Franciscan Laity (N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 3. A national centre of the Third Order of St. Francis was officially opened and blessed by the Roman Catholic Bishop of Auckland (the Most Rev. J. J. Liston) in Auckland today. The third order was originally founded 700 years ago for laity wishing to follow the Franciscan way of life. The order now has a membership of more than three million, with centres in almost every country of the world. There are more than 700 members of the order in | New Zealand. The new centre will be the i headquarters for the local centres at Auckland, Wellington, Palmerston North, ChristI church, Dunedin, and InvcrI cargill.
