OYSTER PASTE
Firm Makes Tests Scallop and mussel pastes will be produced in Taranaki by a company which has a factory 18 miles from New Plymouth. The company also hopes soon to market oyster paste. Test batches of the new pastes, made in the company’s experimental kitchen by one of the directors, Mrs J. Ibbotson, have proved very satisfactory. Mussels and. scallops for the pastes are supplied by fishermen in the Nelson area. For the oyster paste the company will use oysters which are not acceptable for sale because of their size. The company’s- food pastes and spreads include those made from crayfish, smoked fish and kippered herring Recently it has had approaches from several parts of New Zealand regarding pastes with additional ingredients. Inquiries have also been made about iexports. .
