BIG HOUSE BOUGHT
University Staff Quarters The purchase of a dwelling at 34 Gloucester street will enable the University of Canterbury “just to get by" in staff accommodation for this year, according to the ViceChancellqr (Dr. L. L. PoWnall). There would be grave difficulty again next year, he told the council yesterday. Dr. Pownall said that, at' the moment, the council chamber was the only room; in which extra staff could< work. Possession of the house 1 in a few months would ease the situation. The property in Gloucester street is a 10-roomed house of two storeys, with a detached flat of three rooms.
