Turn-over And ProfitUp (N.Z. Press Assn.— Copyright) SYDNEY, April 27. Group turnover and profit of John Fairfax, Ltd., publishers of the “Sydney Morning Herald,” “Sydney Sun,” “Sunday Sun-Herald” and other publications, for the six months ended December 29, was higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year. The directors say that the total advertising volume for the four newspapers published by the group increased by approximately 7f per cent.. The total volume of advertising carried in the group’s four magazines was equal'.to that of the corresponding period of the previous year. Costs rose by 2.9 per cent, including a higher provision for depreciation. The comparison of the group profit was after deducting minority interests and providing for income tax.
Interim dividend of 8J per cent is steady. Last year the full payout was 17 per cent.
