Referendum Criticised
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 26. The Returned Services Association should have consulted the Gallipoli Association before holding referendums on the observance of Anzac Day,'the Gallipoli Association’s president (Mr H. Shaw) said on Friday. “It would have been an act of courtesy on the part of the R.S.A. to have asked the old chaps their opinion,” he said.
“If it. hadn’t been for us, there wouldn’t have been an Anzac Day. The R.S.A. could have waited till after next year, when we celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the landing before making any moves on changing the observance.”
