BAXTER DEAD
(N .Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) OTTAWA, April 27. Sir Beverley Baxter, Canadian-born British politician, author and journalist, died in London yesterday. He was 73. Sir Beverley Baxter joined the London “Daily Express” in 1920, becoming managing editor of the “Sunday Express” two years later, and was appointed managing director of the “Daily Express” in 1924. He was Conservative member of Parliament for Wood Green from 1935 to 1950 and for Southgate since 1950. He had announced his intention of retiring at the next General Election.
