Hunger
Sir,—No doubt many besides those actually in the Cathedral heard the moving, address of the Bishop of Christchurch, the Rt. Rev.' A. K. Warren, last Sunday, in connexion with . the jVorld hunger campaign. . In graphic illustration of hrs theme, the Bishop recalled an occasion when he was attending a conference of ecclesiastical dignitaries and they were given, for lunch, just one cup of soup each, as a reminder that that was as. much as, if not more than, millions of their fellow-beings were getting by way of sustenance for a whole day. On that sarfie day, Sunday, I went to buy a -bottle of milk from a local dairy -shop, but could not approach the counter for the swarm of youngsters buying ice-creams’ and lollies The time was just before noon—in fact, one imagines, not long before most of them would. be sitting down to a hearty meal.—Yours, etc., M.T. ' April. 27, 1964.
