N.A.C. ENTRANT IN HOSTESS CONTEST
An air hostess. Miss Margaret MacDonald, who is ‘ based in Christchurch, will be judged on her beauty.' poise and initiative when she represents the National Airways Corporation at the second annual Miss Internation- | al Air Hostess Quest at t Surfers’ Paradise, Queensland, in June. Miss MacDonald and other entrants will be the guests, of Surfers’ Paradise travel > interests and are required to. have had a minimum of six months’ active service. They will be judged in winter and summer uniforms, i and special emphasis will be given to general appearance.: knowledge of airline duties/ beauty, grooming, carriage i and deportment, personality/ conversation, poise and demeanour, initiative, sense of humour, knowledge of current affairs, and general appeal. The contest will be under the patronage of the Premier of Queensland (Mr G. F. R. Nicklin) and the Queensland Minister for Tourism will be chairman of the judges' panel. There will be two addi-
tional contests. The Press Photographers’ Association will decide the most photogenic entrant and the most popular contestant will be decided among the entrants I themselves. Last year NA.C.'s representative, Miss Dian Brabant, was placed fourth and the quest brought entrants from 17 airlines. Miss MacDonald joined [N.A.C. in May, 1961, and was promoted to training hostess ■ in September, 1962. She was educated at Epsom Girls’ {Grammar and was a doctor’s , receptionist before joining ' the corporation. Miss MacDonald is 22 years ! old and her home is in Aucki land.
