(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright.) BANGKOK, April 22. The military junta which overthrew the Government in Vientiane last Sunday was still in control of the capital, Mr Farolan, the Philippine Ambassador to Saigon, said today.
Mr Farolan described the situation in the capital as calm.- The coup was quiet and efficient, he said. Other. travellers from Vientiane said the population was indifferent to the coup. They said they understood that General Kong Le, commander of the neutralist troops, threw in his lot with the coup leaders as reported by Radio Vientiane. Diplomats in Bangkok said most neutralist officers, as well as neutralist cabinet ministers, were under house arrest like Prince Souvanna Phouma, the Prime Minister of Laos.
