MISSING MAN
Tarawera Search
(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, April 1. After an intensive all-day search of bush area in the Tarawera district on the Napier-Taupo road, a police search party returned to Napier at 10.15 tonight without having found any trace of a deerstalker, Peter Neverman, who has been missing since Monday morning. The search party will leave again for the area at 6.30 tomorrow morning. Grave fears are felt for Mr Neverman’s safety. A member of a hunting party of three he failed to meet his companions after they had split up in search of deer which could be heard roaring in the area.
Twenty-eight police, deerstalkers and experienced bushmen with a police dog today scoured the area where Mr Nevennan went missing without finding any trace.
Mr .Neverman had little food with him when he entered the bush. Mr Neverman is 27, married, with two children, of 37 avenue, Napier.
