MRS J. SPENCE, of Anchorage, Alaska, who has cabled her mother, Mrs M. E. McGuinness, of Greymouth, that she and her husband and daughter are safe and well after the recent earthquake. Mrs Spence and her daughter had a narrow escape from death in Anchorage in May last year, when they were off-loaded from an aircraft which crashed later, killing all on board. The former Miss Maycel Kerry, of Greymouth, Mrs Spence married an American airline pilot in England.
