899 Gave Blood In March

Eight hundred and ninetynine persons gave blood to the North Canterbury Blood Transfusion Service last month. This was 28 fewer than in March, 1963. The mobile unit of the service brought in 216 pints of blood from Waikari and Oxford, and 583 pints were taken at the blood bank at the Christchurch Hospital Seventy-four donors were new to the service.

The Christchurch Hospital used 302 pints of blood, the Princess Margaret Hospital 288 pints, and other hospitals 126 pints. This compares with 253, 258, and 132 pints respectively in March, 1963 The total demand for the month was 73 pints than in March, 1963.
