OLYMPIC MANAGER
Mr Simpson Nominated
The council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association has nominated Mr B. Simpson for the position of manager of the New Zealand Olympic team to go to Tokyo.
Mr Simpson is president of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association and has been chairman of the Auckland centre for five years. He is the advertising manager of the “New Zealand Herald" and began his administrative career in Taranaki before moving to Auckland in 1950.
Mr R. Shakespeare (Hastings) has been nominated for the position of assistant manager. A past president of the N.Z.A.S.A., Mr Shakespeare is a life member and the immediate past president of the Hawke's Bay Centre. He was the sectional manager at the Perth Empire Games and has been on the Hawke's Bay Centre for 27 years. The nominee for the position of chaperone is Mrs N. Williams (Auckland), a New Zealand representative at the 1950 Empire Games at Auckland. She is well known in Auckland for her administrative and coaching work and has been a member of the centre for six years. Mrs Williams has travelled widely and was at the Townsville swimming school prior to the Rome Olympics.
