(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) NICOSIA, March 24. President Makarios would not object to the appointment of Mr Sakari Tuomioja, the Finnish Ambassador to Sweden, as mediator in the Cyprus dispute, a Cyprus Government spokesman said today.
Both the Greek and Turkish Governments have accepted the appointment of Mr Tuomioja, it was learned in Geneva today. An authoritative source said in London today that the British Government was considering Mr Tuomioja’s nomination. British*Gbinese Exchanges (N.Z.P -A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 23. The Chinese Academy had agreed to a programme of exchanges with the Royal Society, the Foreign Secretary (Mr Butler) told Parliament today. He gave no details, but an authoritative source said five senior Chinese scientists had visited Britain last year. Five junior research workers were now studying at British universities as part of the exchange programme.
