Kingdom For First Leg At Waipukurau

"The Press” Special Service

WELLINGTON, March 20. The improving Kingdom, which is now down on the minimum is expected to regain winning form in the P.F. Wall Memorial Handicap at the Wai-

pukurau meeting tomorrow. Kingdom did not resume racing for the current season till the Woodville meeting last month and at his fourth and last start he finished fourth in the main handicap on the sec-

ond day of the Napier meeting, giving promises of better form In the near future. Being one of the durable Sabaean breed, Kingdom is not too old at seven to show his best form again. In previous seasons when at his peak he was a solid stayer, one of his successes being over a mile and a half in top class company at Trentham.

Good Stayer Shady’s good staying form at Trentham will assure him of good support. He was a close second to Llanelly at the end of two miles in the Chalmers Handicap and though he did not do so well over a mile and a half on the second day he was not far from the placed horses in seventh place. Collected has recently shown outstanding form with three consecutive wins In the hack class followed last week by a close third in the Champion Hack Handicap at Trentham where he carried 8-13. This half-brother to Cool is a solid stayer and capable enough to run prominently in his debut in the open class. Second Leg The second leg of this double is the Flying Handicap for which Tangelo, For Free, Velvet, Gayestephan and Damselle will all make some appeal. Gayestephan now has 9-1 and he might find difficulty conceding 201 b to Tangelo which has been racing consistently. The forecast is for occasional showers, but it would take a good deal of rain to affect the going.
