More Warm Weather
North-west conditions in Christchurch yesterday are expected to continue today, according to the meteorological office at Christchurch airport.
From 1 a.m. yesterday the temperature did not drop below 70 degrees;.on the contrary, it -climbed steadily through the early morning. By lunch time it was in the 80s, and at 3 p.m a peak temperature of 86 degrees was recorded at the airport. At the same time the Botanic Gardens recorded 84 degrees. The nor’-wester blew from 12.30 a.m. The highest gust was 54 miles an hour at 6.10 am. The average windspeed between 4 a.m. and 9 a.hi. was 35 miles per hour.
