127-Acre Dairy Farm Sold For £14,500
The late A. G. Tanner’s farm of 127 acres one rood 24.1 perches at Tai Tapu was sold for £14,500 at public auction yesterday. • The auctioneer was Mr L. W. Matson, who started the bidding at £9OOO. There was one bid of £lOOO, seven of £5OO, two of £250, and five of £lOO. ,
The property is divided into four paddocks and one. hill block. There is approximately 44 acres of flat heavy land: The farm has been worked as a dairying unit, but in recent years has carried 260 ewes in conjunction with small seeds production. Improvements include a three-bedroom house, granary, and outbuildings.
Offered on account .of the estate of Maggie Laurie Small-
bone, a two-storey house converted into three self-contain-ed furnished flats on a 34perch section at 198 Bealey avenue was sold for £6700, £1125 more than the Government valuation, at public auction yesterday. The auctioneer was Mr N. H. McCrostie. The initial bid was £6OOO. There were two bids of £250, and two of £lOO. Flat 1, let at £7 a week, has a .lounge, bedroom, kitchenette, and bathroom. Flat 2 is let at £5 10s a week. It has a lounge,-two bedrooms, sun balcony, kitchenette, and' bathroom. Flat 3, which is vacant, has two livingrooms, bedroom, sunroom, kitchenette, and bathroom. -There is also a garage. Rates are £6O 0s 6d. Two properties, a house at 159 Jerrold street, Addington, and a cottage at 61 Wakefield avenue, Sumner, were offered on account of the. estate of Caroline Louise Turnpenny by Mr Denys Chapman. The house, which was passed in at £1650, has three bed-, rooms, lounge, sunroom, kitchen, and bathroom. There is also a laundry, woodshed, and toolshed on the section'of 30.2 perches. The rates are £2O 13s 6d. .• • The Sumner cottage .was passed in at £lO5O. ‘it has three rooms, kitchenette, and sunporch. The rates are £9 l9s 2d. .
