LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
1. Letters sent to the Editor for printing should preferably be typed, otherwise they must be written in InK on one side of the paper only. A legible signature and full address are required, whether these are to be published or not. A P.O box number is not a sufficient address. 2. Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent to other papers. 3. The Editor cannot return or keep any letter which, for any reason, is unsuitable for printing; nor can he acknowledge unsuitable letters although this will be done where it seems to be needful, or enter into any corres pondence 4. Letters must not be of more than 150 words.
55 and Still Working.—You should not condemn a whole class on the behaviour of three. W. O’Keefe.—The district traffic manager of the Railways Department (Mr J. T. P. Jones) replies: “The booking office at Lyttelton is open on Sundays for the sale of tickets from 6.40 a.m. to noon and 12.50 p.m. to 7 p.m. The patronage afforded the late evening Lyttelton-Christchurch services, namely, the 9 p.m., 10 p.m. and 10.55 p.m. trains, does not justify the expense of extending the present hours of attendance; nor is the expense of installing a ticket machine justified. No extra charge is added to the cost of tickets which are issued when the ticket office is closed.”
