TRAINING CAMP

St. John Cadets

A combined training ramp for boys and girls will be held by the Canterbury and West Coast district of the St John Ambulance Brigade at Waddington at Easter. Sixtyseven cadets to train as officers and non-commissioned officers from Rangiora, Greymouth, Ashburton, Temuka, Timaru, Pleasant Point and Waimate as well as from Christchurch will attend.

The object of the camp is to assist the training of young members of the Brigade as leaden in their respective divisions, and also to achieve a greater uniformity in the brigade’s cadet training generally. Emphasis willba placed on drill and discipline, and Instruction will be given in teaching teccamp will be under the command of a district officer, Mr W. G. Whitmore, of the district headquarters staff, assisted by another district officer, Mrs G. M. L Barton, officer in charge of nursing cadets, Mr B. C. L. Ctesswell, deputy commander for ambulance cadets. The training will be under the direction of the district sergeantmajor, Mr T. B. Smith, of the district headquarters staff. On Sunday, March 29, a service, formal parade and inarch pest will be held. The Bishop of Christchurch (the Rt Bev. A. K. Warren) who is sub-prelate of the Order of St John win conduct the service.
