PAINTED TONGUE.—Salpiglossis sinuate is an unusual but very attractive annual from Chile. It belongs to the same family as the potato and tomato. The plant is of an elegant branching habit, growing up to about 2ft 6in tell. There are many garden strains and varieties in colours of primrose to pink, yellow and almost blue, all of which are delicately mottled and veined as if by hand. Propagation is by seed in spring for flowering in mid-summer onwards.
