TROTTING HARBOUR LIGHT IN PEAK FORM

Addington Second Leg Tomorrow

Harbour Light should gain her second win at the meeting and her fourth for the season when she contests the Reta Peter Handicap, the second leg of the double at Addington Raceway tomorrow. Harbour Light has always appealed more as a stayer than a sprinter and there was more than average merit in her sprint win last Saturday.

Harbour Light was in the middle of the field last Saturday and she gave the leaders a handy start from the two-furlong post. She finished with a great burst of speed wide out on the track and got up in the last few strides to shade Robert Medoro.

Harbour Light will start from 24 yards in tomorrow’s race and if she receives a reasonable run, she should be untroubled to extend an already fine record this season.

Front Line was the 2/3 favourite in last week’s sprint, but, after making a good start, he tried to go too quickly early and broke before the end of half a furanced he is probably the fastest trotter in commission and in spite of last week’s failure, he is one of the popular fancies for this race. Flaming Way lost ground at the start of last week’s sprint and was never in a challenging position. He finished tenth, some distance from the winner. However, he is much better than that effort suggested and if he reproduces his peak form, he could easily upset calculations.

The horses on the front will have to show improvement on their recent efforts to be much of a threat, although several of them will appreciate the extra distance in this race. Last week several of them were rushed off their feet early in the sprint race. Snow Globe finished fourth last week, her best effort for some time and a run which suggested early improvement. Uteena finished seventh after making the pace and she, too, could be prominent.

However, the horses on 12 yards should hold them reasonably safely. Robert Medoro’s second last week entitles him to consideration

while there will be support for Astralight, which finished boldly for fifth in the same race.

Little Smoke, on 24 yards, is an interesting newcomer to the meeting. Her form in the north has been good this season.

Spinster Scott looks to be on the improve and along with the backmarker, Our Own, she appeals most of the remainder.

The Easter Cup (Third Heat) will be the first leg of the double. Lordship, Vanderford and Gay Reel form a likely trio.

Fair weather is forecast and the track is expected to be in good order.
