VICTORIA LEAGUE

Junior Group Grows The membership of the Canterbury branch of the Young Contingent of the Victoria League is 278, an increase of 73 over the previous year. During the year many members were given introduction cards to London headquarters where they received generous hospitality, said the branch president (Mr R. A. Leckie) in his report to the annual meeting last evening. The Young Contingent continued to support four children under the Save the Children Fund last year. During the year they were informed that one of these children, a Greek boy, had become sufficiently rehabilitated that he no longer needed assistance. The branch is arranging to sponsor another child. The Young Contingent had also been helping Asian students in Christchurch. To make it easier for them to meet Christchurch people of their own age, 25 Asian students were invited to a dinner and entertained by members of the Young Contingent.
