COMMERCIAL CROWERS

Two hundred and eighty growers and their wives attended the annual gathering and cabaret evening of the Canterbury Commercial Growers’ Association, held at the North Country Club last evening.

Mr R. Moir, president, and Mrs Moir welcomed those present, who included representatives of the Fruit Growers’ Federation, fruit and produce markets, and chairmen and vice-chairmen of various sections of the association.

Among those specially invited were Mr J. H. Watt (horticultural superintendent for Canterbury) and Mrs Watt,. Mr L. Brandenburg and Mr L. Hurndell (horticultural field officers with the Department of Agriculture) and Mrs Hurndell.

During the evening the showgirls’ ballet gave a farewell to Mr John Pass, their choreographer, who is leaving shortly on a trip to Australia.
