QUALIFYING TRIAL
Battle Field Impresses
Battle Field showed great promise when he won his heat of the qualifying trial at Ashburton yesterday. He recorded 3min 23 4-ssec for the 12 furlongs, the last half mile in Imin 4 4-ssec.
Battle Field is a grand type of three-year-old colt by Light Brigade from Ingle Belmer. He is trained at Templeton by C. C. Devine for the Methven breeder-trainer, p; A. Watson. The other heat was won by Luverly in 3min 26sec. A three-year-old filly by My Chief from New Look, she is trained by S. Campbell and was driven by W. K. Tatterson. Second In this heat was Warily, a promising type of three-year-old gelding by Adorian from a fine winner in Merval.
