Motor Company’s Staff
Motor Assemblies, Ltd., had reduced its staff recently by 38 persons, said the company’s general manager (Mr A. R. Cutler) yesterday. The company’s staff was in excess of 200 and was likely to stay about that number. Mr Cutler said there had been some misleading statements as to the size of the company’s staff reduction.
Transport Delay.—A power breakdown paralysed trams and trolley-buses in the centre of Wellington yesterday morning, delaying hundreds of “9 o’clock start” workers. Transport from practically every part of the town was affected.—(P.A.)
MISS GEORGINA MOORE, of Wellington, who won the “Young Miss New Zealand” contest last year and the 1963-64 Philips overseas scholarship as her prize. She left New Zealand by air on Friday for a year’s study at the University of Lausanne, in Switzerland. Miss Moore, who is a second-year student at Victoria University, will continue her studies in French. During her stay in Europe she will visit the Philips Technological Institute at Eindhoven.
