FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anti-cyclone west of Northland is moving slowly eastwards. Canterbury and Kaikoura coast.—Light to' moderate variable winds; rather cloudy skies, with some scattered light rain, chiefly in the western ranges; moderate to mild day temperatures. Outlook: mainly cloudy. Buller and Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds; mainly overcast skies, with long periods of rain in the south and occasional rain elsewhere; moderate temperatures. Outlook: rain. Marlborough, except the Kaikoura coast.— North-westerlies, fresh at times in exposed areas; partly cloudy weather predominating, with moderate temperatures, but a few light showers are likely in the west. Outlook: few scattered showers.

Nelson.—South-westerlies, fresh at times, showers in the western ranges, otherwise partly cloudy, with a few isolated light showers likely; moderate temperatures. Outlook: few scattered showers.
