West Ham, Preston In English Cup Final

West Ham United, the London first division side, and Preston North End, a Lancashire second division club, will meet in the English F.A. Cup final at Wembley on May 2. West Ham, one of the most effective sides to adhere to the 4-2-4 system in British soccer, knocked out the holder, Manchester United, 3-1, at Sheffield. Preston, one of the oldest soccer clubs in England, dashed the hopes of Wales getting a team in the final for the first time since 1927, when it beat Swansea Town, 2-1, at Birmingham.

West Ham has appeared In an F.A. Cup final only once before—in the inaugural match at Wembley in 1923 when it was beaten by Bolton. Preshas won the CU P twice—-in 1889 and 1938— and has played in six finals. H y
