Safety, Not Comfort
(Special Crspdt. N.ZP.A) LONDON, March 13? A sight screen is to be placed over the front of the pavilion at Lord’s at all matches this season. It will cut the danger of batsmen being hit by fast bowlers operating out of the dark background of the pavilion end. This is how M. C. Cowdrey broke his left arm there last year. The “Daily Express’’ sports writer, pointing out that the screen will also block the view of M.C.C. members who form the famous long room standing gallery, added: “M.C.C. members are to be congratulated for giving priority to the safety of cricketers at the expense of their own comfort.’’
