PAEROA CUP FINISH MAY BE CLOSE

"The Press" Special Service

AUCKLAND. March 13. The Paeroa Cup at Pukekohe tomorrow contains a crowd of possibilities. It will be disappointing if Persian Star and Blue Heather do not run well. They were the first two over the same course last week-end. Persian Star, which came first and Blue Heather had been out of form, and it seems as though they are very close to their best again. In the Ohinemuri Cup last Saturday they put on a pretty close finish, and there is not likely to be much between them this time. The Paeroa Cup will be the first leg of the double. The second leg of the TAB. double, the St. Patrick’s Handicap, is no less open. Kitty Kildare might be the favourite. In top form she would be hard to beat. Aro, Mantovani, Summer Blaze, Yonda, Impresario, and Bridoon will bear watching as well. The going took a soaking with the mid-week rain, but will be no worse than soft unless there is a further heavy fall Selections:— 11 a.m.—Waitekauri Hurdles: Takir.a. Minionair.
