W. CEMENT PROJECT
Double Output Planned (N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, March 13. Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland Cement, Ltd., plans to increase the capacity of its plant at Portland, Whangarei, at an estimated cost of more than £2,000,000. The project, scheduled for completion in two years, will almost double output. The scheme includes the installation of a large new kiln and associated equipment capable of lifting present capacity by a minimum of 200,000 tons of clinker a year to 500,000 tons. Additional machinery to prepare raw materials to feed the kiln and grind the resulting clinker into finished cement wiU be installed in two stages of 100,000 tons capacity each year. The first stage will be concurrent with the present extension and the second stage will coincide with further increases in demand for cement.
