Women’s Bowls Rain Only Winner In Greymouth Tourney
No-one won the West Coast Women’s Bowling Centre’s fours tournament at Greymouth yesterday. It was abandoned after heavy overnight rain when play had reached the semi-final stage. Greens, inspected early yesterday morning, were found to be flooded and play was impossible. This is the first time that the centre has been forced to abandon a tournament which has been started. On Thursday afternoon the first and second rounds of post-section play were completed. Those to reach the semifinals were Mesdames D. Coll ‘(Blaketown), Petrie (Rangi-
ora), Schaef (Dunollie) and Vaughan (Opawa). Results of round play were:— Round One.—Mrs Anderson (St. Martins) 19, M/s Stokes (Cobden) 13; Mrs D. Coil 22, Mrs Boot (Riccarton Racecourse) 13; Mrs Petrie 18, Mrs Drummond (Oxford) 17; Mrs Fleming (Hokitika) 18, Mrs McNee (Blafcetown) 10; Mrs Schaef 18.
