CARRYING GUN
Liston Faces Gaol Term (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) DENVER (Colorado), March 12. Sonny Liston today faced the possibility of a 10-year prison term if convicted on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. A .22 calibre pistol was found on the former world heavy-weight boxing champion's person on Tuesday night when a police officer stopped him for speeding. Since Liston has a police record, authorities were attempting to determine whether the concealed weapon charge filed against yesterday constitutes a felony under a Colorado law passed last year. This law permits felony charges to be filed against a convicted felon found to be carrying a weapon. Conviction carries a two-to-10-year sentence. Liston served two prison terms totalling more than three years on felony charges m Missouri in the 1950’5. Denver police said they had ssked the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington to forward Liston’s police record to Denver.
